Abstract
1,011,639. Reactors. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. June 2, 1964 [July 25, 1963], No. 29614/63. Drawings to Specification. Heading G6C. In a marine integral reactor, the pressure vessel which contains the reactor core, the heat exchanger and a primary coolant circuit, is enclosed in a containment vessel which retains leakage fission products from the core. The containment vessel is provided with a removable top cap so that the reactor may be lifted out of the vessel. The coolant piping is connected to the pressure vessel by flanges which may be uncoupled through the top cap. Lead shielding surrounds the pressure and containment vessels and a further water shield is interposed between the two vessels.
