Abstract
1,012,723. Spinning frames: cleaning machines. J. MACKIE & SONS Ltd. Nov. 5, 1962 [Nov. 10, 1961], No. 40344/61. Headings DID and D1F. A double-sided spinning-frame having an overhead creel and a pneumatic suction system for removing fibres when a yarn breaks, comprises nozzles connected to a main duct or ducts running along the length of the machine and communicating with a suction fan provided with a filter box located at approximately the mid-point of the length of the frame and to the side of the rove-creel. As shown, rove from bobbins 6 suspended from oppositely-extending members 5 supported by a central standard 7, is drafted at 9 and wound at 10. There is a nozzle 12 for each yarn; those on one side of the machine communicate with a duct 14 and those on the other with a duct 15. The ducts run the length of the machine; centrally of thin length they communicate by ducts 20, 21 and 23, 24 respectively with filter boxes 22, 25. These have fans at 16, 17 and filter plates 28, 29 with openings 30, 31,so that the air takes the path indicated in Fig. 2 to deposit the fibres arising from a broken end when they are accessible through doors 34, 35. The boxes are located high enough to allow the operator to pass along the machine. Since the ducts on each side communicate with different boxes two different yarns can be worked on the frame without mixing the fibres.
