In a lever actuated flush fitting bolt of the type which comprises a frame 10, a shoot 11, an actuating lever 14, an intermediate member 12 to which the said actuating lever is pivoted and a leaf spring 17 which is housed within the frame and one end whereof is adapted to bear on the under surface of the intermediate member while the other end thereof is adapted to slide within a groove 107 formed within the base of the frame, the leaf spring being retained in the stressed condition by a cross pin 18 located within holes in the side wall of the frame, has its sliding end portion apertured, the aperture being located and of a nature such that an instrument 19 may be inserted in the aperture when the bolt is in sit and used as a lever to free the sliding end from engagement with the frame and so to permit of removal of the spring from the frame.
