Abstract

1,075,015. Pliers. C. KUHBIER. Nov. 20, 1964, No. 47388/64. Heading B4W. In pliers comprising a first jaw 12 pivoted at a first pivot 13 to a second jaw 11 having an integral handle 10, the jaw 12 being operatively connected by a second pivot 15 to the other handle 16 of the pliers and the other handle 16 being pivoted at a third pivot 18 to the lever arm 14 of the first jaw 12, a slot is associated with one of the pivots 15, 18 and the arrangement is such that the second pivot is positioned nearer the second jaw than the third pivot and the first pivot is positioned at the end of the lever arm nearest the second jaw. The articulated end of the handle 16 is located between the handle 10 and the short lever arm 14 of the jaw 12; the pivot pin 18 riveted in the handle 16 engaging a slot 19 formed in the jaw 12 and the pin 15 passing through apertures in the handles 10, 16. In a modification, Figs. 4-6 (not shown) the handle (16) has off-set second and third pivots (15, 18) on opposite sides and which may be integral therewith, the second pivot (15) engaging in a slot in the handle (10) which carries the second jaw and the third pivot (18) engaging in a hole in the first jaw (12).
