1,010,447. Lens system. GENERAL PRECISION SYSTEMS Ltd. Oct. 27, 1961 [Oct. 27, 1960], No. 36996/60. Heading G2J. A composite bi-focal lens is formed from two plano-convex lenses A and B of equal thickness but different diameter by first cutting each lens along a diameter and then reuniting the same pieces to provide two elements each of which has one plane face and is half A and half B as in Fig. 2. A diaphragm C is disposed between the elements. In an alternative, pieces of glass of different refractive index are united and the lens formed therefrom, or the lens may be made from bi-refringent material such as Iceland spar.
