Abstract

1321887 Telescope lens systems L BERTELE 2 July 1970 [3 July 1969] 32281/70 Heading G2J A Galilean-type telescope system consists of at least five lens members wherein a negative system component A consisting of at least two air-spaced lens members, the member nearest the eye side having negative refractive power; and a positive system component B comprising at least three air-spaced lens members are separated by an air-gap L 2 . The positive system component has the member disposed closest to the negative system with negative refractive power, and the other members of positive refractive power, at least the lens members having positive refractive power being separated by airgaps. The first lens member of the negative component may have its most strongly curved surface arranged to face the eye in use, and may be two cemented lenses L 1 and L 2 . The negative lens member in the positive system may be cemented doublet L 5 , L 6 , and the refractive index on the eye side of this cemented surface may be larger than that on the object side Optical date are given for four examples.
