Abstract

1,010,445. Attaching studs to shoe soles. A. BENTE. Jan. 25, 1963 [Feb. 1, 1962], No. 3286/63. Heading A3B. To provide a footwear sole with one or more inserts for receiving and retaining e.g. studs on its wear side, the or each insert, comprising an internally screw threaded sleeve 6 merging at its upper end into a retaining plate 7, is first driven through an insole 1 from its upper face and through an intermediate sole 2, if any. The upper 4 is then drawn on to a last and an outer sole 3 is vulcanised or injected on to the insole, or intermediate sole, at a pressure of several thousand atmospheres and a temperature of 120-150‹C. The upper is left on the heated last for 10 to 15 minutes during which time the insole 1 is deformed so that the upper surface of the plate 7 merges smoothly into the upper surface of the insole 1.
