The heel portion 14 of a two part last has a downwardly directed integral flange 18 at the periphery of the heel portion for positioning an insole in a lasting operation. Preferably the flange is continuous, as shown, and its height is about equal to the thickness of an average insole. The last may be made of a plastics material.
