Abstract

1336646 Boots &c WHITE-KNIGHT PRODUCTS Ltd 31 Dec 1971 [9 March 1971] 6333/71 Heading A3B A stud assembly, of the type which is secured in an internally threaded socket (not shown) embedded in a shoe sole, consists of a flange member 10 and a stud member 25. The flange member 10 includes a flange 11, a boss 15 adapted to fit in the socket, a slot 20 extending across the boss 15 and a bore 18 extending through the flange 11 and boss 15 and tapering from at least one end to a minimum cross section 19. The stud member 25 includes a stud 26, a flange 27 and a pin 28 formed with an enlarged end portion 30. In use the flange member 10 is pushed into the threaded socket and the pin 28 is pushed into the tapered bore 18 until the enlarged portion 30 passes the minimum cross-section 19, and the flange 27 enters a recess 12 in the member 10. This forces the outer surface of the boss 15 into contact with the threaded socket, and the outer surface may be threaded, ribbed or plain, the threads of the socket biting into the material of the boss. The flange member 10 may be made of plastics material, e.g. nylon, and the stud member 25 may be made of cadmium or zinc plated or similarly treated steel and may be formed with a ridge 31 which allows the stud to be gripped by a tool for removal.
