Abstract

1437380 Boots &c ONITSUKA CO Ltd 30 May 1973 [6 June 1972 27 Dec 1972] 25703/73 Heading A3B A sole for an athletes spiked shoe comprises a number of spikes each having an effective length E.L. made up of an upper part 12 A2 and a lower part 12 A1 formed integrally together. The lower part has a uniform drosssection throughout its length and is terminated at its lower end by a planar surface. The lower end of the upper part has a resistance face 20 extending outwardly beyond the lower part for checking the spike from sinking unnecessarily deep into the ground. The axial length of the upper part 12 A2 must be at least half E.L. In one form, Fig. 10 (not shown), the cross-section of the lower part is rectangular. In another, Fig. 11 (not shown) the resistance face is concave. In Fig. 12 (not shown) the upper part comprises an upper circular-cylindrical part and a lower firusto-conical part. In Fig. 13 (not shown) the resistance face is convex and the planar surface of the end of the spike is not normal to the axis of the spike. In Fig. 14 (not shown) the upper part is entirely frusto conical.
