Abstract

1,010,279. Winches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 7, 1964 [Sept. 5, 1963], No. 35134/63. Addition to 940,120. Heading B8B. In a winding engine according to the parent Specification in which a winder drum 2 is rotatably mounted on the fixed shaft 3 and driven from a multiplicity of motors 7 through gears 6 and a ring gear 5, a second winder drum 1 is also arranged in the shaft 3 and selectively clutched to the drum 2. The clutch comprises a sliding collar 11 engaging ring gears 9, 10 on the drums 1, 2. The teeth 12 of the collar 11 are sufficiently wide to permit the teeth 13 to be disengaged axially from the gear 10 while the teeth 12 and gear 9 remain engaged.
