Abstract

803,632. Mining winches. L'EQUIPMENT MINIER. April 4, 1957 [April 7, 1956], No. 11078/57. Class 78 (5). Winch drums 31, 31<SP>1</SP> are driven by a motor through pawl-and-ratchet device 53, 52 and shaft 32, the drums being freely mounted on the said shaft 32 and being connected thereto by pulley 37, which is secured to the shaft so as to rotate therearound and which carries cable length 38 fixed at 39, 39<SP>1</SP> to the respective drums. In this way the drive is transmitted to the pulley and from the radial rotation of the pulley through the cable length 38 to the respective drums to wind on to the latter the cable lengths 41, 411. Rotation of the pulley whilst it is rotating bodily around shaft 32 allows relative rotation of the drums to keep constant the tensions of cable lengths 41, 41<SP>1</SP>. As shown, the cable lengths are constructed out of one cable and the cable lengths 41, 41<SP>1</SP> are guided on to the drums by guides 42, 42<SP>1</SP> driven nut-wise from the respective drums by rotating threads 47. If drums of differing diameter are chosen the tensions of the respective cable may be maintained at a constant ratio other than unity.
