Abstract

610,968. Winch drums. MITCHELL, F. G. May 17, 1946, No. 11907. [Class 78 (v)] Conical drums 1, 2 each having a winding rope (with cage attached), are arranged to rotate at the same speed and to wind up the rope from the smaller end of the drum to the larger end thereof and vice versa, and are drivingly connected (e.g. by gears 5, 6) so that one winds up as the other unwinds. The driving connection may be by chain drive between the two shafts with the larger ends of the drums arranged adjacent; the drum shafts may be arranged and drivingly coaxial, connected by reversing gear. The drums are driven by electric motor 7 through reducing gear 8.
