Abstract

1,009,155. Furniture stabilisers. UPRIGHT Inc. March 31, 1964 [May 13, 1963; Nov. 29, 1963], No. 13141/64. Heading A4H. An adjustable supporting leg 10 which may have a castor 14 has an outer tubular member 11 and an inner member 12 threaded at 15. A sleeve member 16 having a lower slotted part to form outwardly bent fingers 25 which have their lower ends formed as segments of a nut 18 with a shoulder 19 to engage the lower end of member 11. The nut 18 has an exterior cam surface 22 and a locking collar 27 is slid vertically downward, after member 12 has been inserted, to engage surface 22 and force the fingers inwardly so that nut 18 co-operates with the thread 15 of member 12. The collar 27 is held in locked position by a bail-shaped spring 32. By releasing the fingers a rapid adjustment of the leg may be made, the final finer adjustment being made by rotation of the leg.
