Abstract

Classes 52(2) and 52(3) The telescopic rear leg and strut of the folding chair described in Specification 815,024 is provided with a gravity-operated catch operable to lock the strut when the chair is unfolded. As shown, catch 25 is pivoted at 19 in the inner tube 24 and has a nose 26 which falls into holes 27, 28 in tubes 24, 12 when the holes are coincident. A rubber silencing sleeve 29 surrounds the catch. As applied to a table, upper and lower table elements and front and rear links form a parallelogram, the front links being extended to form front legs. The rear legs are pivoted to the rear of the lower table element and extended upwards to be pivoted near the front end of the upper table element. The rear legs are formed as telescopic struts as described above.
