Abstract

1,032,193. Tables. MOTILS PRODUCTS Ltd. and T. T. TATE. Dec. 24, 1963 [March 14, 1963], No. 10053/63. Heading A4H. An adjustable table comprises a table top 2 clamped to a stem 8, which is slidably mounted in a bore in a housing 16 and clamped in position by a locking screw 38, and three or more similarly cranked legs 46 whose upper ends fit into sockets in the housing 16 so that each leg is turnably and axially movable in the bores of the sockets. The upper ends of each leg 46 and the leg receiving bores are similarly stepped so that when each leg is moved axially to withdraw it from the bore it can be turned in the bore, but when fully inserted it is locked against turning. The legs 46 are retained in position by springs 48 wound round the legs and bearing against a closure plate 44. A plate spring 56 covered by a polyvinyl chloride sleeve 60 is riveted to the plate 44 so that when the locking screw 38 is tightened the spring 56 is pressed against the stem 8 and holds it in position. Adjustable feet or castors may be attached to the lower ends of the legs. The table may be collapsible by removing the top 2 from the stem 8, and the stem 8 from the housing 18, and by folding the legs 46 on to one another into a bundle.
