Abstract
<PICT:1008409/C4-C5/1> In a cyclic process for cracking gaseous and/or liquid hydrocarbons in the presence of steam and preferably in the presence of a catalyst the gas produced leaves a generator 1 and passes through a steam superheater 3, an evaporator 4 for evaporating a light hydrocarbon feedstock such as gasolene and a flue 7 of a waste-heat boiler 6 having three flues thereby to cool the gas to a temperature suitable for CO-conversion in a converter 11; gas leaving the converter with at least part of its Co content converted by reaction with steam in the presence of a catalyst to Co2 and H2 passes through flue 8 of the waste-heat boiler to a washer and cooler 14 for use and during a heating phase the flue gases after leaving the generator 1 are passed through the flue 9 of the waste heat boiler to a stack 17.
