Abstract

1,003,716. Paper &c. bags. TENSION ENVELOPE CORPORATION OF KANSAS CITY. July 23, 1962, No. 28268/62. Heading B8K. An expandable bag or envelope is made from a single blank 39, Fig. 6, and comprises a rear wall 3, front wall panels 14, 15, side walls having panels 11, 12, bottom wall panels 21, 23, gussets 32, 33 and sealing tabs 28, 30. The blank is initially folded as shown in Fig. 7, panels 14, 15 being glued at 18 and the side walls being pleated by bringing panels 11, 12 into face to face contact and the flat form is completed by folding panel 23 of the bottom wall on to panel 21 and gluing sealing tabs 28 to tabs 30 and a panel 24 to front wall panels 14, 15. When the bag is expanded score lines 27, 27<SP>1</SP> are broken as the bottom squares with the other walls and gussets 32, 33 together with sealing tabs 28, 30 assume the positions shown in Fig. 9. The bottom corners of the bag are sealed since tabs 28, 30 are glued to one another and are integral with the gussets 32, 33. A top 19 and closure flap 20 are also provided.
