Abstract

Ferrous alloys intended to be hot-worked, especially alloys containing chromium and/or nickel and/or cobalt are plated with copper, e.g. by chemical deposition from an acidified copper sulphate bath, and are then coated with a bentonite clay.ALSO:Ferrous alloys intended to be hot-worked are provided with a coating of copper followed by a coating of a bentonite clay, which may be an organophilic clay and may be applied by dipping.
