Abstract

897,279. Metal plating baths. HARSHAW CHEMICAL CO. Feb. 2, 1961 [Feb. 29, 1960], No. 3931/61. Class 41. Base metals Al, Zn, Fe are plated electrolytically by first a flash coat of copper or nickel, followed by a coating of nickel/copper alloy, and a final coat of nickel. There may be added a further plating of chromium. Preferred coating thicknesses are, copper 0.05 to 0.3 mil., Cu/Ni 0.3 to 1 mil., Ni 0.2 to 1 mil. The copper/nickel alloy contains 30% to 75% of nickel. The plating solution may include the di-hexyl ester of sodium sulphosuccinic acid, and sodium citrate. U.S.A. Specification 1,750,092 is referred to.
