Abstract
1,001,758. Scaffolding. UP-RIGHT, Inc. July 12, 1962 [March 26, 1962], No. 26845/62. Heading E1S. A collapsible scaffold comprises end frames 12, 13 pivoted to tubes 16-19 for supporting a platform and is braced by diagonal stays 33 and a diagonal ladder 14. Each stay 33 is pivoted to the end frames and comprises two parts 33a, 33b connected by a pivoted link and held rigid by a slidable sleeve 46. The ladder is pivoted to the end frame 12 at the upper end 26 and connected by hooks 31 to the bottom of the end frame 13. To fold the scaffolding the stays 33 are collapsed by sliding the sleeve 46 clear of the pivoted link and the ladder hooks 31 are detached from the end frame 13. The pivots of the ladder, the stays and the tubes 16-19 to the upper ends of the end frames are offset. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown) the detachable hooks are at one end of the tubes for the platform and the ladder is non- detachably pivoted at both ends. In other modifications various arrangements of the stays are shown connected between different parts of the scaffolding. Figs. 9-12 (not shown).
