A cable connector comprises a resilient sleeve 40 (Fig. 7) carrying a removable coupling element 26, which is held against relative rotation by a pin 27 engaging a slot in the sleeve, or in a rigid member 54 held in the sleeve, one end of the sleeve being shaped at 52 to engage and form a water-tight seal with the correspondingly shaped end of a similar co-operating sleeve 80 (Fig. 7). The sleeve may fit closely on the coupling (Fig. 10) or may only be secured in selected places by walls 56, 57 (Fig. 7), and one end of the sleeve may be sealed to the cable insulation, while the coupling 26 may abut a stop-ring 54 in the sleeve to prevent relative axial movement. The portion 35 of the coupling may be of a soft metal such as brass and be crimped to the conductor (Fig. 3, not shown), the sleeve being sealed to the cable insulation by vulcanizing several layers of tape (60, Fig. 6, not shown), of rubber, for example, which are wound around the joint. The mating faces of two sleeves 100, 101 (Fig. 10) may be curved, 113, and the rotation-preventing slots (126, Fig. 12, not shown) may in this case extend away from the cable, while the coupling 101 may be secured in place by means of a lip (150, Fig. 15, not shown) extending inwards at the end of the sleeve.
