Abstract

The glazing (5, 6) is composed of a frame (7) of profiled elements (9) and a pane (8). It is placed on an existing window (1, 2, 4) for example with single glazing (3), to transform it in the case of this example into a double glazed window. According to the invention, the pane (8) of this extra glazing (5, 6) has, on at least one of its faces or in its thickness, a pattern (16) affixed by a printing process on glass or the like. , and representing a curtain or window decoration. Application: creation of a curtain, or replacement of a traditional curtain.

Description

The present invention relates to an opening glazing, consisting of a frame

  in profiled elements and a window, the glazing is intended to be placed on an existing window, for example single glazing, to transform it in the case of this example into a window to

double glazing.

  In known manner, such a glazing comprises a frame, for example rectangular, formed of metal profile elements or synthetic material, assembled together in particular by means of brackets. The profiled elements most often have a generally "H" shaped section, delimiting a first groove receiving the edge of the glazing pane and a second groove receiving parts of hinges as well as locking members. The glazing, fixed internally on the joinery of the existing window by means of the hinges, is thus an opening glazing, being able to be locked in closed position (applied against the existing window) by means of the locking members. Preferably, the profiled members of the glazing still include a third groove, receiving a seal which, in the closed position, abuts against the joinery of the

existing window.

  Surviterrages of this type are currently satisfactory, as regards their mounting on existing windows and obtaining good thermal and sound insulation. However, since the windows usually have curtains, these glazings pose a certain number of problems related to the curtains: - The presence of a glazing represents an overthickness of the interior side of the window, which can be a nuisance or an impediment for the

  preservation of a pre-existing conventional curtain.

  - In any case, the window curtain may catch on the corners of the frame glazing. - If a window curtain is present, its disassembly is practically indispensable, to allow

  the opening of the glazing for cleaning purposes.

  - In the case of a window with a fairly narrow joinery, the installation of the glazing, the frame of which partially covers this joinery, may eliminate the space necessary to fix the hooks

hanging a curtain.

  For all these reasons, there is a certain

  incompatibility between survitrages and curtains of windows.

  The present invention avoids these disadvantages, by providing an improved glazing, solving

  economically all the problems related to the curtains.

  For this purpose, the subject of the invention is an opening glazing of the kind mentioned above, to be applied to an existing window, the window of this glazing having, on at least one of its faces or in its thickness, a pattern affixed by a method of printing on glass or the like, representing a curtain with window decoration. Such a pattern of "curtain" or the like, decorative and functional (filtering the light), is feasible in particular on the inner face of the pane of the glazing; it is thus protected, in the enclosed space between the glass of the existing window and

  the glazing pane, and is therefore not vulnerable.

  The pattern representing the curtain or decor can also be made on both the inner and outer faces of the glazing pane, which creates an effect

of "double curtains".

  This motif representing a curtain or decor is particularly achievable by a method of screen printing on glass, with appropriate inks: screen-printing inks

epoxy or enamel.

  Thus, by means of the glazing on all or on a portion of the glass surface of this glazing, a pattern of "curtain" that replaces the traditional window curtain, which has many advantages: - The presence of glazing is no longer an inconvenience or impediment for the passage and suspension of a window curtain; on the contrary, this presence of a glazing is used to create a "curtain" or

similar decor.

  - Any risk of snagging a real curtain on

  the angles of the glazing is removed.

  - The opening of the glazing is done without

  to meet the obstacle constituted by the curtain of window.

  - The glazing can be opened temporarily, to allow a maximum of light to penetrate in the room concerned, without creating drafts, nor entry

  cold or heat in said room.

  - Any risk of fire curtains is removed,

  which may be important in some premises.

  - On the occasion of the installation of a glazing, the implementation of the invention makes it possible to add, at a lower cost, a "curtain" to a window that was initially lacking. - The invention is applicable to windows of all geometric shapes, for example circular, trapezoidal or triangular, which is difficult

  to equip traditional curtains.

  - This invention contributes to the aesthetics of the window and its environment, since it removes the curtain rods and suspension hooks, and allows to harmonize the pattern "curtain" as well with the shade and / or appearance of the frame of the glazing, that with the color

window carpentry.

  Finally, the commercial appeal of the new product constituted by the "decorated glazing" according to the invention should not be neglected compared to ordinary glazings which are currently quite ordinary products. In any case, the invention will be better understood

  using the following description, referring to the drawing

  schematic annexed representing, by way of example, an embodiment of this glazing to be installed on an existing window: Figure 1 is a front view of a window with two leaves equipped with glazings according to the present invention, both glazing being in closed position; Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure 1, but showing the glazing of one of the leaves of the window in the open position; Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view,

  enlarged scale, following III-III of Figure 2.

  Figures 1 and 2 show, by its inner face, a window with two leaves 1 and 2, each leaf 1 or 2 having a window 3 surrounded, on its

  four sides, a carpentry 4 including wood.

  Each leaf 1 or 2 is equipped with a glazing opening, respectively 5 or 6, reported on the inner side of this leaf. Each glazing 5 or 6 itself comprises a frame 7 and a window 8, surrounded by the frame 7. This glazing frame 7, here of rectangular shape, is formed of profiled elements 9, metal or plastic, assembled between them

  at the corners of the frame 7 by means of brackets (not visible).

  As shown more particularly in FIG. 3, the profiled elements 9 of the glazing frame 8 each have a generally "H" shaped section, delimiting two main grooves 10 and 11. The first groove 10 receives the edge of the glass 8 of glazing. The second groove 11 receives, on one side of the frame 8, parts of hinges 12 by which the glazing 5 or 6 is mounted and articulated on the joinery 4 of the corresponding leaf 1 or 2 of the window. On the side of the frame 8 opposite to the preceding, the second groove 11 of the profile elements 9 can receive at least one locking member 13, such as a rotary latch, which serves to immobilize the glazing 5 or 6 in the closed position, c that is to say applied against the leaf corresponding 1 or 2 of the

window.

  In the example considered, the profile elements 9 of the glazing frame 8 still include a third groove 14, which receives a seal 15 against the joinery 4 when the glazing 5 or 6 occupies

its closed position.

  According to the invention, the window 8 of the glazing 5 or 6 has, on at least a portion of its surface, a pattern 16 printed on the glass of the window 8, and representing a window curtain. Thus, when the glazing 5 or 6 is in the closed position (see FIG. 1, and FIG. 2 on the right), the pattern 16 simulates a window curtain in place, and also functions functionally as a curtain of

  window, that is to say the filtering of the light.

  The temporary opening of a glazing, such as the glazing 5 (see Figure 2 on the left), allows to temporarily remove this filtering of the light and to obtain the passage of a maximum of light, without the need of open the corresponding leaf 1 of the window. The pattern 16 representing a window curtain is preferably made on the inner face of the glass pane 8 of the glazing 5 or 6, so that, in the closed position of this glazing 5 or 6, said pattern 16 is protected, in the closed space 17 located between the window 3 of

  the pre-existing window and the window 8 of the glazing.

  This pattern 16 is achievable by a known method of screen printing on glass, with the use of screen-printing inks, or enamel giving a more resistant impression. Any "curtain" decor, in one color or in several colors, can be obtained in this way. It may be a pattern made "custom",

  for a glass of given shape and dimensions.

  Alternatively, the pattern can be produced industrially "continuously" on a glass strip of indefinite length, which is then cut to

  dimensions, keeping the same pattern.

  This pattern 16 may be affixed to glass glazing panes of any composition and quality: ordinary glass, organic glass, insulating glass, laminated glass, ... the pattern may, in the latter case, be

  arranged between two glass sheets of the glass.

  As is obvious, and as is apparent from the above, the invention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this glazing to be installed on an existing window that has been described above, as a example; it embraces, on the contrary, all the variants of

  implementation and application respecting the same principle.

  Thus, in particular, one would not deviate from the spirit of the invention: - by all variants of appearance of the "curtain" pattern, it may extend over a part or over the entire surface of the glazing pane; by realizing this "curtain" motif by any method of printing on glass or the like, or even by adhesive application; - By applying the invention to survitrages of all shapes, not necessarily rectangular, whose frame can be made with profiled elements of all configurations and in any material, possibly composite frames (metal profile or plastic, covered with a decorative wooden stick); - By the use of this glazing on an existing window which, by itself, is already a double-glazed window.

Claims (7)

  1. Survitrage opening to pose on an existing window, composed of a frame (7) in profiled elements (9) and a window (8), the glazing (5, 6) being intended to be placed on an existing window (1,2,4) for example single glazed (3), to transform it for example into a double-glazed window, characterized in that the window (8) of this glazing (5,6) has, on the at least one of its faces or in its thickness, a pattern (16) affixed by a method of printing on glass or by application   adhesive, representing a curtain or window decor.   2. Over-glazing according to claim 1, characterized in that the pattern (16) representing the curtain or decoration is formed on the inner face of the pane (8) of the glazing (5,6), and is thus protected in the closed space (17) located between the window pane (3)   pre-existing (1,2,4) and the pane (8) of the glazing (5,6).   3. Veiling according to claim 1, characterized in that the pattern (16) representing the curtain or decoration is formed on the inner and outer faces of the pane (8) of the glazing (5,6), to create a double curtain effect.   4. Oversize according to claim 1, characterized in that, in the case of a glazing (5,6) with glass (8) laminated glass, the pattern (16) representing the curtain or decor is arranged between two glass sheets of the glass (8).   5. Glazing according to any of the   Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the pattern (16)   representing the curtain or decor is realized by a process silkscreen on glass.   6. Glazing according to any of   Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the pattern (16)   representing the curtain or decoration is made on the entire surface of the glass (8) of the glazing (5,6).   7. Over-glazing according to any of the   Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the pattern (16)   representing the curtain or decor is realized on a part   the surface of the glass (8) of the glazing (5,6).
