Abstract

The double glazing (5,6) is composed of a frame (7) and a glass pane (8). It is installed on an existing window frame (1,2,4) consisting of a single pane (3) in order to transform it into double glazing. The double glazing glass (8) has on one of its surfaces a pattern (16), made by silk-screen printing on the glass, representing a window curtain. The curtain pattern is made on the internal surface of the double glazing pane and is thus protected in the closed space between the existing window pane and the double glazing pane. The pattern can be alternatively made on both the internal and external surfaces of the double glazing pane in order to create a double curtain effect.

Description

The present invention relates to an opening glazing, composed of a frame of profiled elements and a window, the glazing being intended to be placed on an existing window, for example with single glazing, to transform it in the case of this example into a double glazed window.

In known manner, such a glazing comprises a frame, for example rectangular, formed of metallic or synthetic profiled elements, assembled together in particular by means of brackets. The profiled elements generally have a section of general shape in "H", delimiting a first groove receiving the edge of the glazing for the glazing and a second groove receiving parts of hinges as well as locking members. The glazing, fixed internally on the joinery of the existing window by means of the hinges, is thus an opening glazing, which can be locked in the closed position, that is to say applied against the joinery of the existing window, by means of the members blocking. Preferably, the profiled elements of the glazing further comprise a third groove, receiving a seal which, in the closed position, bears against the joinery of the existing window.

The glazing of this type is currently satisfactory, as regards their mounting on existing windows and obtaining good thermal and sound insulation. However, since windows usually have curtains, these glazings pose a number of problems with curtains:

• The presence of a glazing represents an excess thickness of the interior side of the window, which can if necessary constitute a hindrance or an obstacle for the conservation of a pre-existing classic curtain.
• In any event, the window curtain may catch on the corners of the glazing frame.
• If a window curtain is present, its removal is practically essential, to allow the opening of the glazing for cleaning purposes.
• In the case of a window having a fairly narrow joinery, the installation of the glazing, whose frame partially covers this joinery, can remove the space necessary for fixing the hanging hooks of a curtain.

For all these reasons, there is a certain incompatibility between glazing and window curtains.

The present invention avoids these drawbacks by providing improved glazing, economically solving all the problems associated with curtains, and constituting a reliable and durable industrial product, economically feasible in all dimensions.

To this end, the subject of the invention is an opening glazing of the kind mentioned above, to be placed on an existing window, the glass of this glazing having, on at least one of its faces, a pattern affixed by a process of serigraphy on glass, representing a window curtain.

Such a curtain pattern, which is not only decorative but also functional since it provides filtering of light, is achievable in particular on the inner face of the glazing window; it is thus protected, in the closed space located between the glass of the pre-existing window and the glazing of the glazing, and is therefore not very vulnerable.

The motif representing the curtain or decor can also be produced on both the interior and exterior faces of the glazing window, which creates a double curtain effect.

This motif representing a curtain or decoration is produced by a screen printing process on glass, with suitable inks: epoxy or enamel screen printing inks. The screen printing is resistant to humidity and heat. The use of screen printing on glass prevents any sticking of a decoration, an unreliable solution, and any insertion of a decoration into the thickness of the glass, which is delicate and requires expensive means.

• A l'occasion de la pose d'un survitrage, la mise en oeuvre de l'invention permet d'ajouter, à un moindre coût, un rideau à une fenêtre qui en était initialement dépourvue.
• L'invention est applicable à des fenêtres de toutes formes géométriques, par exemple circulaires, trapézoïdales ou triangulaires, qu'il est difficile d'équiper de rideaux traditionnels.
• Cette invention contribue à l'esthétique de la fenêtre et de son environnement, puisqu'elle supprime les tringles à rideaux et crochets de suspension, et permet d'harmoniser le motif de rideau aussi bien avec la teinte et/ou l'aspect du cadre du survitrage, qu'avec la couleur de la menuiserie de la fenêtre.
• Enfin, il ne faut pas négliger l'attrait commercial que présente le produit nouveau constitué par le survitrage décoré selon l'invention, comparativement aux survitrages ordinaires qui sont des produits actuellement assez banalisés.

Figures 1 and 2 show, by its inner face, a window with two leaves 1 and 2, each leaf 1 or 2 having a window 3 surrounded, on its four sides, by a carpentry 4 including wood.

Each leaf 1 or 2 is equipped with an opening glazing, respectively 5 or 6, attached to the inner side of this leaf. Each glazing 5 or 6 itself comprises a frame 7 and a window 8, surrounded by the frame 7.

This glazing frame 7, here of rectangular shape, is formed from profiled elements 9, metal or plastic, assembled together at the corners of the frame 7 by means of brackets (not visible).

As shown more particularly in FIG. 3, the profiled elements 9 of the glazing frame 8 each have a general-looking section in "H", delimiting two main grooves 10 and 11. The first groove 10 receives the edge of the window 8 of the glazing. The second groove 11 receives, on one side of the frame 7, parts of hinges 12 by which the glazing 5 or 6 is mounted and articulated on the joinery 4 of the corresponding leaf 1 or 2 of the window. On the side of the frame 8 opposite the previous one, the second groove 11 of the profile elements 9 can receive at least one blocking member 13, such as a rotary bolt, which serves to immobilize the glazing 5 or 6 in the closed position, c 'is to say applied against the corresponding leaf 1 or 2 of the window.

In the example considered, the profile elements 9 of the glazing frame 8 also have a third groove 14 which receives a seal 15 pressing against the joinery 4 when the glazing 5 or 6 occupies its closed position.

The window 8 of the glazing 5 or 6 has, on at least part of its surface, a pattern 16 printed on the glass of the window 8, and representing a window curtain. Thus, when the glazing 5 or 6 is in the closed position (see FIG. 1, and FIG. 2 on the right), the pattern 16 simulates a window curtain in place, and also functions functionally as a window curtain, it that is to say the filtering of light.

The temporary opening of a glazing, such as the glazing 5 (see FIG. 2 on the left), makes it possible to temporarily suppress this filtering of light and consequently to obtain the passage of a maximum of light, without the need to open the corresponding leaf 1 of the window.

The pattern 16 representing a window curtain is preferably produced on the inner face of the window 8 of the glazing 5 or 6, so that, in the closed position of this glazing 5 or 6, said pattern 16 is protected, in the closed space 17 located between the window 3 of the pre-existing window and the window 8 of the glazing.

This pattern 16 is produced by a screen printing process on glass, with the use of screen printing inks, or of enamel giving a more resistant impression. Any curtain decoration, in a single color or in several colors, can thus be obtained.

It can be a pattern made to measure, for a glass of given shape and dimensions.

Alternatively, the pattern can be produced industrially continuously on a strip of glass of indefinite length, which is then cut to the desired dimensions, retaining the same pattern.

This pattern 16 can be affixed on glass glazing windows of any composition and quality: ordinary glass, organic glass, insulating glass, laminated glass, etc.

Over-glazing according to claim 1, characterized in that the pattern (16) representing the curtain is produced on the inner face of the window (8) of the over-glazing (5,6), and is thus protected in the closed space (17 ) located between the window (3) of the pre-existing window (1,2,4) and the window (8) of the glazing (5,6).
