Abstract

The roofing beam of Y-section and non-uniform height is made up of upper (1) and lower (3) sections of prestressed reinforced concrete connected by sections (5) of ordinary reinforced concrete, the beam being cast in one piece. The ends of the beam (6) are filled in to allow variation in beam length at the time of casting. The limbs of the upper section define a water drainage channel and have, along their edges, undulations (7) which cooperate with corrugated roofing sheets. The lower section also carries indentations (3B) which cooperate with sheets which make up the ceiling.

Description

Load-bearing beam of Y-section and variable height, cast in a single pass and comprising two frames in prestressed reinforced cement and a reticular core wall in ordinary reinforced cement.

The subject of the present invention is a bearing beam for covering, of generally Y-shaped section and of variable height, constituted by two frames of prestressed reinforced cement, connected by a reticular wall core of ordinary reinforced cement, the beam being cast in one piece.

The end zones of the reticular wall can be made in the form of a solid core to allow variations in length of the beam during casting.

The slightly arched upper chord forms a water drainage channel and has along its raised edges undulations repeating those of the corrugated fiber cement cover plates; anchoring means being provided for these plates. These means may include, incorporated in correspondence of the top of some of the corrugations, galvanized threaded round irons projecting upward and to which are fixed the corrugated cover plates previously drilled.

Advantageously, the rectilinear lower chord has undulations reminiscent of those of the fiber cement ceiling plates. The rectilinear lower member may include galvanized metal strips incorporated therein which, by folding, constitute a device for retaining the ceiling plates.

A beam thus produced is advantageous from the point of view of its manufacturing cost, its weight, and the protection that it offers against variations in heat, and this compared to known embodiments having the same applications.

The invention will now be explained in more detail using a possible embodiment shown in the attached drawings in which:
Figs. 1 and 2 are respectively an overall side view of a beam and of a detail of this beam shown on a larger scale,
Figs. 3 and 4 are two sections along lines III
III and IV-IV of FIG. 2, on a larger scale,
Figs. 5 and 6 are perspective views of two details, and
Fig. 7 is a section through part of a floor and a covering produced with the beam in question.

As can be seen in the drawings, the structure in question is a prefabricated solid reticular beam, intended for covering civil and industrial buildings. The beam can be used at the top of beams or longitudinal walls, before the formation of a suitable layer of mortar - on a surface having a dimension equal to the width of the lower chord, of the order of 26 cm, and l '' another of the order of 15 cm,
The beam comprises an upper member 1 and a lower member 3, made of prestressed reinforced cement with adherent cables; the two members are connected together by a trellis 5 of ordinary reinforced cement in the central zone, and by a solid core 6 at the ends near the supports. The beam is poured in a single pass inside suitable metal formwork. A hot maturation for 24 hours allows the relaxation of the traction members.

The upper chord 1 has a concave upper cross section in 1A to form a pipe for collecting rainwater. . Either for resistance requirements or to determine the water flow, the longitudinal profile of the upper chord is slightly curved and determines a beam of variable height.

Beams with a span of around 20 m, calculated to withstand a snow load of 90 kg / m2, have a total height in the central area of around 90 cm. The height at the supports can be around 55 cm.

As already mentioned, the beams have, near the supports, a solid, that is to say uninterrupted, core 6, over a distance of approximately 2.00 m for example; this core 6 makes it possible to obtain variations in length of the beams themselves by having partitions inserted into the casting mold to limit the length which limits the cavity of the casting.

To make the roof, the beams are placed with spacing of about 2.00 m for example. In the case of an edge beam, or in any case of an asymmetrically loaded beam, provision may be made to connect the beam in question by two crosspieces to that which is contiguous or to another resistant structure.

The roofing is completed by means of curved corrugated plates 7 made of asbestos cement. These plates 7 are supported on a suitable corrugation 1B of cement which is formed on each of the edges of the upper surface of the upper member 1 and is integral with the latter. The fixing of these plates 7 on the upper part 1 of the beam is carried out using round threaded and galvanized irons 9, embedded in the beam during casting and protruding at the top of the corrugations 1B. The plates 7, previously perforated in correspondence of the tops of their own undulations, are fixed by screwing a nut - also galvanized - before interposition of a bitumen-based lining. The plates 7 cover the corrugations 1B and can be sealed by means of fittings.

The lower part 3 of the beam supports the ceiling plates 10, which are also made for example of asbestos cement. The plates 10 are supported on an appropriate step 3A of the lower member 3; this step is provided with projecting parts 3B to close the openings created in the app8trjes small ribs existing on the plates 10. The blocking of the ceiling plates 10 is effected by folding of galvanized metal strips 12, embedded in the frame lower 3 and which are applied to the fiber cement plate 10. A glass wool mattress placed on the upper face of the ceiling plates 10 improves the thermal insulation of the cover.
