Abstract

The wind driven turbine for converting kinetic energy to mechanical energy consists of a tower (1) supporting rotors (2, 3) formed as prisms with curved surfaces. A wind deflecting shield (7) directs the airflow to the surface of each rotor moving in a windward direction whilst shielding the surface moving against the windward direction. The rotors and shield are carried on an intermediate frame (5) which is rotatable about the tower. the shield may have adjustable guide vanes whereby the direction of air flow relative to the rotor surfaces may be varied.
