Abstract

1504911 Wind power plant F MCLATCHY 29 Dec 1975 [21 April 1975] 16393/75 Headings F1Q and F1T A wind power plant includes an even number of turbines 4 in flared ducts 3 on one or more shafts 1 mounted in bearings 2 and connected by gearing to a power delivery shaft, e.g. driving a pump, an electric generator, or an air compressor, the whole plant being mounted on a light gantry on a freely rotatable turntable. As shown, each turbine comprises a number of rotors 15, with blades 16, a fan 13 being mounted on the shaft 1 upstream of the turbine, and an extractor fan 17 being mounted downstream thereof. Shutters 7 actuated by a ring 9 control the wind entering the duct 3 automatically in accordance with wind conditions. Impulse or reaction turbines may be utilized.
