Abstract

The turbine has a rotor (1) which rotates about a vertical axis, with spaced radial vanes defining open wind channels between them. The rotor (1) has a surrounding stator (2) with fixed plates (19a, 19b) for directing the incident wind currents onto the rear faces of the rotor vanes (11), so that the rotor (1) rotates in a given direction. Pref. the rotor (1) has a central open area (14) around its axis, into which the wind channels defined by the vanes (11) discharge, the wind currents then being deflected back through a different channel and impinging again on the rear face of one of the vanes (11).
