Abstract

The turbine has a rotor carried on a vertical shaft. The rotor has aerodynamically shaped blades projecting from its periphery at an angle to the radius. The rotor with its blades is surrounded by an outer ring of stationary blades. The latter have aerofoil profiles in vertical planes at an angle to a radius from the centre of the turbine. They guide incident wind onto the rotor blades to secure the best angle of incidence for high output and efficiency. Adjustable segments of a cylinder round the outside of the stationary blades control the amount of wind flowing through the turbine.
