Abstract

The wind generator is suitable for including in an area network where a number of generators could operate at different outputs. Each generator (4) is mounted horizontally on a steel framework (3) and driven through a gearbox (40) by an air fan. A weather vane (10) ensures that the fan blades are facing into the wind. The fan is made up of a number of radial arms (6), each of which carries a set of blades. The blades consist of aerofoil sections mounted in sequence on the radial arms (6). The angle of each section is variable to maintain a constant rotational speed on the fan drive with variable wind velocities. Each section is pivoted against the wind by a torque which is related to the section inclination and its radial distance from the fan axis.
