Abstract
The wind-driven turbine has a rotor mounted on a vertical rotary shaft. To keep the shaft speed constant with varying wind speeds, the rotor is of variable shape, typically as regards dia. The rotor can have one or more oblong blades (6) coupled at the ends to hubs (4, 5) on the shaft. The coupling points of the blades to one or both hubs can be arranged to slide up and down the shaft and/or in the radial direction in relation to it. One or both hubs can slide up and down the shaft, the blades being hinged to it. The blades can slide along bars extending radially from one or both hubs.
