Abstract
The impeller of a wind driven generator has two blades. Each is held so that it can rotate about its own axis and move radially in and out of the hub. Centrifugal force tends to pull the blade radially out. It is opposed by two springs so that the actual radial movement depends on the speed of rotation and thus on the wind speed. A fixed pin in the hub slides in a helical slot in the stem of the blade. The axial movement thus produces a rotation which depends on the wind speed. The pitch of the blade is thus automatically adjusted to wind conditions. This prevents overloading and gives a quick start at low wind speeds.
