Abstract

The generator has an impeller mounted on a vertical axis and including radial arms in pairs diametrically opposite each other. A blade is pivoted at the end of each arm and supported by a strut which pivots on the blade and slides along the radial arm. The point along its length at which the blade pivots is calculated so that it swings out by centrifugal force over half the circle of rotation. This ensures that it catches the wind on the driving half and offers no resistance on the return movement.
