Abstract

The wind powered machine has a rotor and a stator, the speed of the machine being regulated by a shield. The rotor rotates about a vertical axis, and the shield is vertically displaceable from a position at the top of the machine to cover a selected portion of the rotor. The machine may be used to drive a pump or an electric generator. The wind direction does not effect the operation of the machine due to the action of the stator.
