Abstract

Commutatorless arrangement for an A.C. variable speed drive has besides its "rim" winding (5) a winding (6) for starting in the stator which at a given tacho potential is disconnected and the run winding is switched on via an invertor. The tacho potential is obtained from a third winding which is proportional to the motor speed. The three windings are lectrically separated but have common parts. The switching over, after run up to speed, is performed by relay (10). All windings and the motor are housed in one enclosure. The operating winding is a single axis winding and is fed from an invertor.
