[Also in Group XXXV] A hoist is enabled to operate at speeds in wide ratio by employing pole-changing and two squirrel-cage motors 2, 3 on the same shaft. Motor 2 has two separate stator windings for 4 and 8 poles, respectively, while motor 3 has 28 poles, thus providing a pole-number ratio of 1:2:7.
