Abstract

912,874. Control of A.C. motors. STILL A.G., HANS. May 8, 1961, No. 16640/61. Class 38 (3). An asynchronous motor 5 which drives a hoist is associated with a pole-changing switch 2 controlled by master switch 1, the motor having a no-load stage corresponding with a minimum pole number, this stage involving a low power-input. A tachometer generator 3 and power-detector 4 are connected to locking circuits to prevent increase of motor speed unless the speed and power are at suitable values. The desired speed is selected at the switch 1, the actual pole-changing operation being automatically controlled by the switch 2. It is impossible to operate the motor in its noload (two-pole) stage when there is a load on the hook, and the motor must be started in a low-speed (thirty-two pole) stage.
