Abstract

The solar heating unit, has non-freezing heat transfer fluid. The heated fluid is passed to an auxiliary heat exchanger, immersed in a heat storage vessel filled with water at a constant level, using mains water and rain water. This is traversed by the mains water piping and the waste water pipe connected to the sewer. It is also traversed by the heated fluid. Valves control flow to either freeze the water in the vessel or to melt ice formed on the exchanger.
