Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the heat collecting efficiency of the captioned water heater by a method wherein two heat accumulating tanks are provided in the water heater and when water in one of the heat accumulating tanks is heated up to a predetermined temperature, the heat collecting operation of a heat collector is switched to the other heat accumulating tank. CONSTITUTION:When the heat collecting operation is started, a heat collecting pipe 9 is made to communicate with a heat exchange circuit 2' through a change-over valve 8 so that cold water in the first heat acculumating tank 2 is heated first. Thus, when the temperature of the water in the tank 2 rises up to, for example, 50 deg.C, a temperature sensor 10 detects it, the valve 8 is turned over to make the heat collector 9 communicate with a heat exchange circuit 3' and water in the second heat accumulating tank 3 is heated. In this case, when a hot water supply circuit 7 is used, the level of the heated water in the second heat accumulating tank 2 lowers temporarily but as the water or hot water in the tank 3 is always kept at a predetermined level, excess water or hot water above that level overlows a water passage 4' and is supplied immediately into the tank 2 through a water passage 5'. Further, when the temperature of the hot water in the tank 2 falls, the valve 8 is turned over and the water in the tank 2 begins to be heated again.
