Abstract

Hydroxyde de magnésium fibreux à structure cristalline aciculaire hexagonale. Dans cet hydroxyde le rapport de la longueur au diamètre est d'au moins 10. Pour le preparer on sèche un composé de structure aciculaire et de formule Mg(OH)2 . nx.Ax **n-.mH2 O (A étant un anion, avec n = 1 ou 2, 0,2 <= x <= 0,5 et 0 < m <= 2), dans des conditions qui n'affectent pas la forme aciculaire, pour éliminer une partie de l'eau, et on met le composé séché en contact avec un composé basique, dans un liquide inerte et qui ne le dissout pas. En plus des applications de l'hydroxyde de magnésium connu, cette variéte cristalline a d'autres applications, dues à sa pureté et à sa structure fibreuse.
