CONSTITUTION: This cathodically protecting Al alloy for vacuum brazing contains 0.005W0.1wt% In with a very low vapor pressure such as about 10-6 Torr at 600°C. By adding In to an Al alloy, the natural electrode potential of the alloy is shifted to the baser side, and by sacrificial corrosion after brazing, the alloy is provided with a superior cathodically protecting effect. By further adding one or more among 0.3W1.5wt% Mn, 0.2W1.5wt% Mg and 0.2W0.8wt% Si to the Al alloy, the mechanical strength can be enhanced. Accordingly, when this alloy is used as a fin material of a heat exchanger, the fin material can be made thinner in order to reduce the weight of the exchanger.
