Abstract

The safety catch is for securing a sail clew to a windsurfer double boom. The catch fixes to the stay (4) between the legs of the V-socket holding the boom ends. A rope (7) has one end secured in a socket (11) and carrying a horizontally pivoted (12) catch bar (10). This engages with a hook (14) on a spring-loaded slider (15) on a horizontal guide-bar (16) in a U-bracket (20) fixed longitudinally to the stay. Engagement is maintained by a threaded rod (9). This is screwed into the other bar end to rest vertically fixed but axially free to slide in a slot (23) in an extension (8) of the U-bracket.
