Abstract

The harness equipment is particularly for use in marine sports such as sailing, and has an adjustable breast belt with supporting straps adjustable to suit the wearer's height. At the stomach there is a stiff plate with an anchorage point for a rope which can be released and attaching to a part of the boat. The anchorage point is formed by an open hook with a clamping stem and grip for the rope etc., the hook being accommodated in a vertical slot in the plate (20) and from which the grip protrudes. The hook pivots through the slot between a securing position in which grip and stem are parallel to the plate, and a release position roughly at right angles to it. Release is effected by the wearer merely pulling on a line (7) attached to one of his limbs, and which acts on the stem.
