Abstract

The equipment moors a ship close to a fixed or floating support and includes a hawser kept permanently under tension between points on ship and support. The length of the hawser is such that variations in its tension due to external forces and incoercible movements take place between predetermined minimum and maximum amounts about the mean amount, and equal at the most to the safe working load of the hawser. The portion of the latter not running between ship and support is reeved around a series of loose pulleys.
