Abstract

The quick-release hook has no pawl to hold it in the engaged position (1), but merely a set of thrust rods (2, 3) hinging together. An adjustable stop (6) can be provided, to regulate the release force needed, and incorporated springs (8) use the release energy to return the hook into the operative position. A magnet can be provided for overload protection. The hook is particularly for securing ships mooring ropes etc.
