886,562. Clips. SCOTT, W. M. June 24, 1960 [Aug: 21, 1959], No. 28578/59. Class 44. A jamming cleat for releasably anchoring a rope or cord by gripping the same between jaws A, A made of resilient material of high frictional coefficient is so formed as to allow the rope to be inserted laterally between the jaws and hereafter to allow it to pass axially through the jaws in one direction only and to be removed from the jaws in a direction opposite to that when inserting the rope. As shown, the jaws A, A which are of laminated rubber, are mounted on rigid back plates C, C forming part of a rigid body D. In another arrangement, Figs. 4-6 (not shown), the laminated jaws are made integral with the body of the cleat which may be in one or two parts.
