Abstract

The pivoting movement of the folding step (7) is controlled via a lever linkage (8, 14) by means of the stroke of a door cylinder. In order to simplify the design, the pivot bearing of the folding step device consists of a pipe (9). The lever linkage (8, 14) engages on a bearing (13) which is rotatably mounted in the bearing housing (10). A torsion spring (11) which is clamped in a non-rotatable bearing (12) of the pipe (9) and to the bearing (13) is arranged as a connecting device between the pipe (9) and the bearing (13). In the event of unintentional blocking of the folding step (7) and violent closing of the vehicle door, the torsion spring (11) absorbs the torsional stress and, after the termination of the blocking, moves the folding step automatically into the pivoted-in position.
