Abstract

1,266,778. Door control unit. RIXSON Inc. 14 July, 1969 [9 Jan., 1969], No. 35413/69. Heading E2M. A door control unit, for use with a door mounted by hinges for pivotal movement above a floor, comprises a housing, (12), adapted to be secured in a. recess in the floor, a cover plate covering an opening in a side of the housing which is uppermost when the housing is in the recess, a resilient device (52) and a hydraulic clamping device (44) both mounted on the cover plate and within the housing, and connecting means (80) connecting the device to the door whereby the housing is spaced from the adjacent vertical face of the door when the unit is operatively associated with the door. When the unit is operatively associated with the door, and the door 18 is pivoted, drive arm 79, spindle 70 and link 78 co-rotate to move link 84, guided by link 100 pivoted at 102 to the housing, and thus impress spring 54 via rod 58 and actuate damping device 44 via link 92, which slides in bush 96, and piston rod 47. The connecting means 80 are supported within a channel-section member attached to the housing's cover. The unit may include a door hold-open device, Fig. 6 comprising a housing 106 embracing piston rod 47 and secured to the cover plate, which housing will yieldably grip cam member 110 on piston rod 47. To vary the position at which the door is held open, the housing 106 may be moved to different positions on the. cover plate.
