Abstract

Photolithographic receptive sheet consists of a substrate with an anchoring layer based on TiO2 and then a hydrophilic colloidal silica. The anchoring layer contains crystalline rutile TiO2 with an oxide surface treatment of >=10, pref. >=15 wt.% silica and can contain a colourant, esp. C black. The silica layer pref. contains non-spheroidal silica particles. The sheet is used in the prodn. of light-sensitive photolithographic printing plates, which can be formed by the Ag salt diffusion transfer process. The anchoring layer gives excellent adhesion of the silica layer, so that the plates have an extended printing life.
