Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily and inexpensively make letterpress original plates without requiring labours and skills which were required by conventional methods which make clean proofed originals first and then take photographs of them, by making negatives by printing on transferring media with a typewriter. CONSTITUTION:A image receiving sheet 4 is attached to a transferring medium 1 composed of a transparent supporting body 2 and an ink layer 3 for transferring which does not transmit any light and which is attached to one surface of the supporting body 2, through the ink layer 3. When printing is performed with a printing member 5, the printed image 6 is transferred on the image receiving sheet. The remaining part of the transferring medium is used as a negative for photoengraving. To easily handle the transferring media, it is desirable to make the transferring media of a pressure sensitive material. That is to say, it is better to make the transparent supporting body of a polypropylene film having 3-200mu thickness and the ink layer with a pressure sensitive transferring ink component. Moreover, to improve the exfoliation property of the transferring ink layer, a separating layer can be installed between the transparent supporting body and the ink layer.
